The Vision
I scribbled this up today, in between my other projects. I don't usually make reference sheets (that's what they're called, right?), and I don't even know if this one qualifies, but it's the beginning of a pet project that I've been toying with for awhile.
I've wanted to make and sell Toothless plushies since I started sewing, but I'd need to make my own pattern in order to do that (in respect of the pattern-makers on dA's wishes). So! Now that I have found a method to make custom patterns, I can make my own! But wait, everyone and their cousin makes and sells these things. But! I haven't seen too many chibi/baby Toothies! And it'd be pretty easy to do!
The Art:
This afternoon, after getting a 'vision' of what Chibi Toothless should look like, I scribbled up some pencil sketches, then took a picture and went over it in Photoshop. I'm really pleased with a couple things in this piece. I'm ecstatic that I drew the whole thing free-handed. No refs at all! I'm also pleased with how the 'sketchy' style came out. I actually planned it, hehe. The background is actually the original picture with the pencil lines removed. I thought it made an awesome texture. I did a lot of font stylizing in this picture. I did not use any outside images whatsoever. I just looked at my DVD and got the word style as close as I could.
The Plush
Yep, I'm actually going to make it, and I really hope it comes out like this. Unfortunately, I'm not sure when I can start him, but I'm itching to!
What do you all think? Would people buy it? I'd love to be able to sell them.
